Hi all,
I usually do naval stuff, but I am also very interested in Western US history, having grown up in the West, as well as being a fan of Western movies! I have noticed that a lot of Western movies and TV shows put frontier soldiers in Civil War uniforms in the 1870s, '80s and '90s, but really there were a lot of things that changed after 1872.
Here are a few pages I've worked up on the enlisted rank insignia of that period:

Best regards,
Justin

Good stuff
Your web site is really great. Are you going to go into the WWI period Enlisted/NCO ranks?
I have been working on some charts of the WWI forces and boy the US Enlisted of that era is daunting to tackle.
By the way I can't seem to upload any pictures here anymore. Have you had any trouble? I realize you mostly just link to your web site.

Looking good! An interesting diversion from your naval repertoire!
BTW, whatever happened to your old reference images for the earlier Royal Navy rank markings that were on your previous site? Any plans to put them back up again?

Well, thanks for the comments. I will post when the officer page is done.

I would like to re-draw that and put it up again, but all I can say is "I'll get to it!" I will move it up on the priority list, though.
Best regards,
Justin
