Does anyone know anything about their rank system or rank insignia? The Nauvoo Legion was the private army of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormons) and existed from 1839 until 1870 when it was disbanded and absorbed into the Utah National Guard, it numbered around 3,000 at its peak in the mid 1840s.
I would logically assume that the rank system and insignia was similar to the US Army of the time but I could be wrong.

Chris
Did a google search and everything seems to point back to Salt Lake City.
On the Latter-day site there is reference to a history archive, and since the past is a main part of the church's believe, maybe they would allow you to access this archive.
All I could get on the net was a few bad pics of legion parades, and the odd portrait of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
