Dear Sirs: I have the curiosity to know how is the work day in a US ARMY ,AIR FORCE OR NAVY UNIT , in the continental United States, for example here in Brazil my unit works from 07:30 to 17:00 hrs in a normal day if we dont have any very important mission, some friends told me that some US UNITS works even at saturday and sundays without stop and that in the US NAVY bases and ships in port ,this is normal to happen and is called " seven days weeks" what could you tell me?? thank you

You work from 0730 to 1700? SHIT! In the Finnish military barrack duty begins at 0530 (wakeup) and real work starts at 0615 and the day officially ends between 1800 and 1900, with lights-out at 2130. Firewatch runs the night in three shifts. During camp it could be all-nighters or 0400-to-2300.

Depends on the assignment my friend. I've had a couple of assignments where I mostly worked office hours from 0800 to 1700. I've also had assignments where I had to be up by 0415 so I could be in the barracks at 0515 for the NCO meeting prior to formation at 0630. The day would typically end at 1800 after another NCO meeting to discuss the next day's training. Like I said, it all depends on the assignment. Institutional assignments typically run 8 to 9 hour days, while tactical assignments run to 16 hour days.
