USAF Postal Specialists

Hi Everyone!

Presented here are my colour illustrations of the insignia of rank and specialty insignia for the officers, warrant officers and enlisted personnel operating the United States Air Force postal operations.

USAF postal personnel have much the same duties as their civilian counterparts, such as general mail handling duties as well as a variety of recordkeeping and reporting duties including maintenance of an up-to-date air force base directory service and locator files.

The specialty insignia for USAF postal system personnel is a postal cancellation mark, the same symbol brought back into use by postal system personnel from the U.S. NAVY, U.S. Coast Guard, USNR, USCGR, USCG Auxiliary and the U.S. Navy National Guard.

Great work, Chuck! Deep respect, colleague))
The only comment: are you sure they will need such high ranks like lieutenant general and higher? Maybe, the major general would be enough?

Hi Dorward!

Thank you for the kind words!

Many of the highest ranks in this field are only there in case they are needed (should many more personnel be added later.)

The highest rank reached by people in this postal career field would be major general, though more realistically the rank of colonel (or perhaps lieutenant colonel) might be the highest rank reached in "normal" times, when there would not be so many air force postal personnel overall.

Ranks above major general (lieutenant general and general) are not specifically in the postal career field and are thus more "generic" in nature.
