HYPOTHETICAL RANKS

Communist and Allied Manchuria post WWII?

Dealing primarily with contemporary and historical Earth nations. (Science-fiction oriented rank systems, such as Star Trek, Starship Troopers, etc.), should be placed in FICTIVE Rank Insignia.

I wonder what would the rank insignia would look like if Manchukuo was not folded back to China.

There may be two flavors, a US-style rank insignia and the second a Soviet-style rank insignia. I wonder what it would look like?

Most country post WW2 which were either back by the USSR or leaning toward it adopted russian style insignias unless they had pre-existing ones not linked too closely with the previous regime. As the insignias used in Manchukuo would most definatly be linked with the imperial government, I would assume that they would simply adopt the same rank progression as the Soviet at the time with only the branch insignias worn on them being any any way different.

With a US backed Manchuria, enlisted ranks might be done with chevrons and rockers as was done in a few US backed countries in our timeline but officer ranks would more then likely be a more straighforward scheme as Us style officer rank progression doesn't seen to appeal to other countries, probably due to its idiosyncracies.

Assuming tht the number of ranks are kept the same and only the insignias are changed, you might have something like this:

private = 1 chevron
private fist class = 1 chevron + 1 rocker
senior private = 1 chevron + 2 rockers

corporal = 2 chevrons
sergeant = 3 chevrons
Staff Sergeant = 3 chevrons + 1 rocker

Cadet officer = 1 gold disk
Second Lieutenant = 1 silver disks
Lieutenant = 2 silver disks
Captain = 3 silver disks

Major = 1 silver diamond
Lieutenant Colonel = 2 silver diamonds
Colonel = 3 silver diamonds

Brigadier General = 1 silver star
Major General = 2 silver stars
Lieutenant General = 3 silver stars
General = 4 silver stars

Interesting to see.

In a Communist Manchuria scenario, would they adopt the North Korean ranking system prior to 1998 and insignias?
