Could someone assist me in making blank dress shoulder straps images (transverse style, like American Civil War) for American police dress uniforms.
American police usually wear transverse, front to back, should straps) but the shape is not rectangular like the Army, but are somewhat pointed in the front, back and on each side.
I'll try to post an image later this evening.

Huh, I've only ever seen those straps in a photo of an old Boston PD uniform.
I'd appreciate a better picture than the one here:
http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Police-Dep ... 0738513024It's not much bigger in person, sadly (I've got the book.)

Hmm perhaps this is only a New England thing. Here is a chief from Nashua, NH.
These are the straps I am referencing.

Yes, that style of shoulder strap is realtively common on the dress uniforms of police departments in southern New Hampshire and western-central Massachusetts. Senior officers in Boston Police Dept. no longer wear that style shoulder strap.
I vaguely recall that they are still worn by senior officers in the Springfield, MA Police as well as Nashua, NH

Could be that this is a New England thing as previously mentioned...I'm from the South and in my limited experience I have only ever seen epaulets used much like on the Army Green Uniform, the Marine Corps uniforms, or the Air Force Uniforms, running from shoulder to collar.

I could be wrong but I believe I have seen pictures of some police and sheriff's departments in Georgia wearing these shoulder straps on the dress uniform as well.
