What's interesting to me is that currently the only real difference is the upper arm patch which can be literally anything. In former time (late 70s early 80s) the government attempted to impose a single design to all municipal forces in an effort to help in recognition so that you ended up with the so-called BNQ patch (french initial of the Quebec Standards Bureau) which looked like these few example:


Eventually the government appear to have allowed local forces to modify the design so that you went from this

So I wonder if this is a case of nearly completely standardising 2 areas (uniforms, rank insignias) while giving lee-way with corporate identity or might these last symbols be the next thing to go ?
