Hi, needs some input on ranks!

Hi, I was watching recently some sci-fi shows like B5, Coyote Ragtag Show, and even GIJOE. There at those shows, for some reasons the mob or criminals have literal armies up to the insignias and uniforms. So, I was wondering, what kind of type of ranks could be in the mob-based armies/navies?

criminal hierarchy ranks

Actually, in the real world, many gangs and organized crime institutions have ranks similar to the military, including the mafia. Pirates were even fans of democracy and elected their captains

A system I came up with is as follows, :

Chief: Leader of a gang; ensures profitability or gang organization
Warlord: 2d in command; Chief enforcer and executioner; Answers only to the chief;
Honcho: Counselor, chief advisor, business manager for the chief, usually a numbers guy
Captain: Leader of a smaller unit of a gang, responsible for a particular piece of turf or activity, such as protection racket, pimping, drug sales or manufacture, etc. Reports to the Chief
Lieutenant: Recruits new members for a captain, assists the captain in keeping order; usually a member who has proven his loyalty and is looking for a chance to move up.
Soldier; member of the gang; has passed initiation, engages in criminal activities as directed by the Captain, be it drug dealing, robbery, theft, etc.
New Jack: actively recruited by a gang, not official member.

The Yakuza are even more organized.

Yes, that is true Cosmiccastaway.

The predominantly Hispanic Latin Kings street gang at one point used a system of large gold crowns worn on black jackets with various numbers depending on the individual's position within the gang's hierarchy. In recent years however they have moved away from this for reasons due to the increased focus on gang suppression by law enforcement. For similar reasons, MS-13 members no longer adorn their entire bodies with tattoos.
