I've tried to draw these ranks from photos. I don't know about the meaning of shoulder boards colours. I saw that there was two-colour shoulder boards for privates (red and blue) as well as one-colour (red, dark blue or green). On the officers' shoulder boards there were one or two stripes (depending on rank). These stripes were in red or blue colour. Does anybody of you have an idea about the meaning of colours of shoulder boards and stripes?

In most commie countries red and blue stood for security services (KGB et co) while blue alone was mostly for communications. On the other hand, the enlisted shoulder boards seem to reproduce the national flag, so perhaps they were some sort of ceremonial version, while the officers'ones were for battle dress.

Excellent works, would you tell me what tools have you used to draw these pictures, Photoshop or any others?
