Royal New Zealand Navy Warrant Officer of the Navy

Unread postby dcfowler1 » Fri Apr 02, 2004 7:46 am

I have noted that, like the Royal Australian Navy, that the Royal New Zealand Navy has adopted a rank of "Warrant Officer of the Navy".

Does anyone know what the insignia is?

Also, does the New Zealand Army have a Regimental Sergeant Major of the Army? Does the RNZAF have a Warrant Officer of the Air Force?

thanks,

Dave

Here are the badges of both commissioned and non-commissioned rank in the New Zealand Army

As you see there is no rank of Regimental Sergeant Major of the New Zealand Army at present. I presume they are going to introduce this rank as they have introduced Warrant Officer of the Navy rank earlier. The insignia will be probably following those Australian Army ones,
i.e.: upper sleeve, national coat of arms in some kind of wreath etc.

Australia:

New Zealand does have a Sergeant Major of the army. From memory, the rank was instituted in 1976 and the badge is similar to that of Australia - i.e. the NZ arms inside a wreath.

I believe you but as you see

the New Zealand Army is just keeping this rank in secret  as there is no rank of Regimental Sergeant Major of the New Zealand Army on their official page.

On a slightly different track..... does the Governor General of New Zealand have a military rank badge in his/her capacity as commander in chief, like the GG's in Canada and Australia do?

dcfowler1,

Out of curiosity, what is the rank badge of Canada's GG? I have never seen it.

IIRC, just the Canadian COA in gold on a shoulder board...similar to Australia's.
