New Zealand Defense Forces Warrant Officer

Unread postby Blakwhit » Thu Aug 27, 2015 11:20 pm

So I saw this recently posted on the NZDF website the Warrant Officer of the Defence Forces seems to have a special insignia. However I can't find any reference to it on the NZDF website. Would this badge be the same regardless of what branch the WO came from?

Hey mate

Good Question and is something that hasn’t yet been seen as so far the only 2 WO NZDF have both come from the New Zealand Army

Given that the only difference is that it includes a second badge that has the NZDF Tri Service Badge on it this could be adjusted to Blue or Black should a member from the RNZAF or RNZN is selected for the Position

This may mean then also if a WO from the RNZAF or RNZN is appointed in to the position they then MAY ware the New Zealand Coat of Arms as their insignia instead of the Royal Coat of Arms which WOs in the RNZAF and RNZN currently ware

What differs both the WONZDF and SMA from other WO1 in the New Zealand Army they have full colour Coat of Arms as their insignia on their Tunic where as other WO1s in the NZArmy have a Tan Coat of Arms on the Tunic Insignia

Ah got it thank you for the information. I'll be interested to see what they use in the future if the position is taken up by a member of the RNZN or RNZAF.

So what units of the Army have a parachute capability outside of the NZSAS? I noticed he and some others in the Army leadership have the regular Army Parachute wings.
