Hello,

did the Polish police continue to wear the pre war

rank insignia or use the schutzmannschaft insignia

introduced in 1942 ?

According to Littlejohn's Foreign Legions of the Third Reich, vol. 4, the Polish collaborationist police used neither.

Instead they used a system based on a merger of typical Polish and German elements.

Ranks:

funkcjonariusz (szeregowy/Unterwachtmeister)

posterunkowy (kapral/Wachtmeister)

st. posterunkowy (plutonowy/Hauptwachtmeister)

przodownik (sierżant/Meister)

st. przodownik (starszy sierżant/Obermeister)

podkomisarz (podporucznik/Leutnant)

komisarz (porucznik/Oberleutnant)

nadkomisarz (kapitan/Hauptmann)

podinspektor (major)

inspektor (podpułkownik/Oberstleutnant)

https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Policja_P ... (1939-1944)

There are illustrations in Littlejohn's book. Lets see if I can find any that can be poster.

Nice photos and link. Would the police have worn the German green

police or the white auxiliary armnands when on security duties or normal civilian work ?

John.

They wore blue uniforms, same as the pre-war Polish state police. They were hence called the Policja Granatowa (Blaue Polizei).

There are no images of them wearing any armbands.
