Looks like our policemen dared to release their modern rank insignia system at last.

As it comes from the picture they decided to refuse from stars and replaced them with some a bit ununderstandable symbol (as for me it resembles a Slavic pagan's Wheel of Perun). Our people name these symbols as "snowflakes".

Besides shoulder slips, the same insignia system is used for sleeve patches on some types of uniform.

And too many generals. Actually, I suppose they should replace all Generals ranks with Commissairs, as it was in the Soviet past (for a certain period) and as it is now in many countries.

Nevertheless, we have what we have))

Officers insignia remind me the German pattern. :)
I wonder wether the "Wheel of Perun" reflects or not the recent political changes...

The secondary copy of the German rank insignia were Georgian, and this is a copy of a Georgian with application of old local projects.
In fact, it is something very close to the monarchic projects of DPRs insignia.XD
Even changes in ranks is similar (removed "Lance Corporal" and "Sergeant Major", remain 3 NCO ranks).
But the refusal of police warrant officers is similar to the right idea.
PS.
Most neo-pagan symbols is modern mystification.

For historical Ukrainian heraldry more typical six-pointed stars.
As an example, the old сossack's flags:

The eight-pointed star often found on banners of the Moscow State.
For example Ivan's The Terrible flags:

And for dessert, coat of arms of Luhansk People's Republic:
