France: Modification of the new paramedic rank insignia

Unread postby Luke » Wed May 27, 2009 9:09 pm

The regulations concerning the new paramedic rank insignia was withdrawn a couple of months after they where issued in 2008: http://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/jopdf/com ... =&pageFin=

The paramedic union's site says that they are without official insignia regulations, but new will be forthcoming in November 2008 (!). See: http://www.infirmiersapeurpompier.com/a ... 0ca9a721a3

According to the union's discussion forum a revised system will be introduced in March 2009. See: http://www.infirmiersapeurpompier.com/m ... e2bd6e4d19

This would be:

Infirmier one blue stripe with silver
Infirmier principal one blue stripe with gold
Infirmier chef two blue with gold
Infirmier d'encadrement [Supervisory Paramedic] three blue with silver

So the only new would be the three stripes for the supervisor.

But I haven't seen anything like that on the official site: http://www.interieur.gouv.fr/misill/sec ... t/tia/view

Is the rank insignia worn by the Paris Fire Brigade and the Marseilles Marine Firefighting Battalion the same as that worn by the regular French Army and Navy? For example, is the anchor worn on the epaulets of the regular navy rank insignia replaced by some sort of firefighting related device for sailors assigned to the MMFB?

I don't think so.

This is a Master Chief Petty Officer; I can't see anything on his uniform but the distinctive unit insignia under the para wings that are different from the Marine Nationale at large.

BSPP seem to have a distinctive insignia on the shoulder boards (at least on the parade uniform):

"Helmet model 1850 and the cuirass (branch insignia) of the engineers in gold thread"
