Czesc Zdzislaw,

Here you have description of Latvian Customs Service ranks and insignia. But you all, folks promise DON'T LAUGH! Because, when I saw link given by Latvis, I got heart attack. Some clerks want to be a generals. Complete Soviet mindstyle heritage.

1.muitas kaprālis — corporal of Customs Service (CS), one yellow 10 mm lace vertically;

2.muitas seržants — sergeant CS, two yellow 10 mm laces wertically;

3. muitas virsseržantam — master sergeant CS, three yellow 10 mm laces vertically;

4. muitas virsnieka vietnieks — warrant officer CS, one diamond (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

5. muitas leitnants — Second Lieutenant CS, two diamonds (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

6. muitas virsleitnants — First Lieutenant CS, three diamonds (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

7. muitas kapteinis — Captain CS, four diamonds (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

8. muitas majors — Major CS, one octagon star (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

9. muitas pulkvežleitnants — Lieutenant Colonel CS, two octagon stars (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

10. muitas pulkvedis — Colonel CS, three octagon stars (yellow metal, i.e. copper);

11. muitas ģenerālis — General CS, Customs Coat Of Arms embodied in oakleaf wreath (yellow metal, i.e. copper);.

Color of rank insignia shoulder board is the same as dress uniform - emerald color. In official description emerald is taken for blue... Let it be.

That's it. No, no I will keep off to translate Correctional Service ranks/insignia description.

Na razie,
Artis, Lotwa

Sveiks Arti!

Artis

Guys,

Could you either repost in English what you have posted in Latvian(?) or use private messages? I don't speak that language and am interested in what might have been said, if it was pertaining to the public subjects.

Dear friends,

That's our fault, and I regret it. The topic above (in Latvian) was "about Latvian Merchant Fleet (Latvijas Tirdzniecibas Flote) uniforms and insignias, detailed description and history. Because I am military, those things are unfamiliar to me, and I cannot be much helpful. Instead my expirience in Latvian MoD Commitee of Heraldy and Symbolics, can explain some questions about novaday's Latvian Military uniforms, patches, insignias."

That was free interpretation from Latvian. Thank you for understanding. To prevent further confusions, I suggest delete previous posts in Latvian.
