Incorrect Translation Estonian Ranks

Unread postby LONDON » Wed Jan 03, 2007 12:27 pm

The English translations of the Estonian Senior NCO Ranks on Uniform Insignia are incorrect.

The correct translations for SNCO ranks for the Army, Navy and Air Force are described in Paragraph 29(3) of the Defence Forces Service Act (see link below):

http://www.legaltext.ee/en/andmebaas/pa ... g=12&fr=no

To summarise:

NOOREMVEEBEL - Junior Warrant Officer

VEEBEL - Warrant Officer

VANEMVEEBEL - Senior Warrant Officer

STAABIVEEBEL - Staff Warrant Officer

ULEMVEEBEL - Chief Warrant Officer

Please amend the English text for the Estonian Army, Navy and Air Force on Uniform Insignia.

On a note of interest, para 23 of the Act describes the roles of the different ranks. I have attached the information concerning NCOs below:

2) position requiring the rank of Staff Warrant Officer – the position of staff non-commissioned officer;

4) position requiring the rank of Warrant Officer – the position of platoon sergeant;

5) position requiring the rank of Junior Warrant Officer – the position of squad leader.

§ 24. Principal positions of junior non-commissioned officers
