Multi role Vessel HMNZS Canterbury. The Shepherd's crooks and sheaf denotes the argricultural caracter of the province. The four ships represents the four ships who brought the first European settlers to the area.
Survey and Research ship HMNZS Resolution. The Estolie (flaming star) is from the arms of Captain James Cook, who commanded the HMS Resolution and was the first who charered the New Zealand waters.
