Italian Collar Badges

Unread postby masive » Fri May 22, 2009 2:18 pm

Hi,

On this photo you see two collar badges of the italian army:

Two Questions. To which troops they belong, and why is the first one (Top of the Picture) so much smaller than the other? Is it possible to say how old they are?
On the back only the company is named.

Hope somebody can help me.

The Different in size i guess have something to do with wich Uniform the Collar Badge are worn. Some types of Uniform have bigger collars than others.

As for units I think the lower one belongs to a Carristi (Armoured) Unit.

Hi,

the smaller one is for Guardia di Finanza (military Customs Police): it is an obsolete style right-hand collar badge for summer shirt. The larger one is for Trasmissioni per truppe da montagna (Signal units for Mountain Troops): it is a left-hand collar badge in the current standard size.
