I'm not sure what the meaning of the red braid is, but red Russian braid is common to Rifle Regiments. The Gurkha's, being a Rifle Regiment, also have the Russian braid on their full dress, as does the Rifle Regiment. However the Rifle Regiment doesn't seem to wear the braid on their service dress.

The red braid is clearly seen on the RGR full dress. The interesting is its presence on the khaki uniform. I have not noticed anything similar on the uniform of any other corps.
