Greetings,
Here is the rank insignia for my Department:
Chief: Gold star worn on both epaulets.
Captain: Gold double bars worn on both epaulets.
Lieutenant: Gold bar worn on both epaulets.
Sergeant: Blue chevrons outlined in black on both sleeves.
Correction Officer Recruit/ Senior Correction Officer: No insignia.
Sergeants and above wear gold badges, Officers wear silver badges.

Are the chevrons like this (http://www.rankinsignia.info/_u/usa-police_06.gif) or different?

Chris,
Yes, those are the correct chevrons. The Lieutenant's rank device is the same as US Army 2LT insignia, and the Captain's and Chief's are the same as US Army Captain and Brigadier General, except for being gold.
