NYC Sanitation Police

Unread postby FutureCanadaBlue » Sat Jun 12, 2004 5:12 am

Part of the New York City Department of Sanitation is the Sanitation Police. They are responsible for enforcing the Health Code, recycling laws and illegal trash dumping regulations within the city. Their rank structure is below.

Police Officer: wear a silver 'SP' on each side of the collar.

There is no rank insignia for ranks above Assistant Chief and are their any ranks about this? LoL, were narrowing down all the NYC law enforcement rank insignia, now we have just the NYC Parks Enforcement Patrol, the NYC Dept. of Enviromential Protection Police, the NYC Hospital Police, and the NYC Court Officers. NYC Marshals and Dept of Investigation investigators dont wear uniforms, though I belive both have an offical shoulder patch.

Hmm...here's what I have on the School Safety Division. Again, I'm not sure if this is complete.

School Safety Agent: silver 'SSD' pin on both sides of the collar.

I would imagine NYPD School Safety uses the same rank insignia as the NYPD as afterall, the are a branch of the NYPD. Good work on the other rank insignia

Thanks, Chris. If I get any other ranks from New York I'll post them.

The PEP is the only NY agency I've found so far that actually has a uniformed rank between Officer and Sergeant.

Here's a list I've had around for a while from the New York City Fire Department. I've pieced it together from a couple of sources, including the excellent book Last Man Down by FDNY Deputy Chief Richard Picciotto. He was a Battalion Chief on 9-11 and was the highest ranking firefighter to survive the collapse of the WTC Towers.

Firefighter: silver pin that shows their assignment on each side of the collar.
Example: 'L123' for Ladder 123, 'E234' for Engine 234, etc.

I'm not sure about that, I'll do some checking and post it when I come up with something.
